This website is a place to discuss my research on the history and anthropology of the Silk Road.  Typically this includes lands from Mongolia and northern China, east to the Anatolian penninsula (modern-day Turkey) and from southern Russia to northern India.

I am currently writing a book on the history of caftan patterns and tailoring methods on the Silk Road.  So I'll be sharing my research as I go, so expect to see lots of posts about textiles, garments, trade routes, museum visits, and research methods.

I also have a strong interest in the traditional performing arts of the Silk Road including dance, music, poetry and story-telling.  In addition, I am fascinated with the history of women and power along the Silk Road.

Feel free to ask questions, but remember: the shorter the question, the longer the answer.  The more specific you can be, the more likely I can help you track down the information if it's something I don't know.
